In 2012, I co-founded the Garrison Creek Bat Co. GCBC focussed on crossing the worlds of function and design, while celebrating the history of baseball in Toronto. I served as the creative director, as well as lead designer, and event & promotions coordinator.
Collaboration was an important aspect of GCBC. Aside from production and design of our own product, we collaborated with craftspeople, artists, illustrators, and makers to produce engaging work that was shared in gallery shows, high-end events, and one-off commissions.
GCBC had a successful run, with 3 major shows, a partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays Jays Care Foundation, and features in the Toronto Star, Toronto Life magazine, Sharp: The Magazine for Men, Now magazine, The Grid and BlogTO.
Stemming from an interest in typography and signage, my mapping series has been an ever-expanding project since 2007. I source data for each map by actually going to the area. Once there, video and notes are taken, which is later parsed through in preparation for design. Each word is individually typed and arranged, and then screenprinted by me.
Though my maps primarily focus on neighbourhoods in Toronto, I have explored other cities in Ontario, as well as Halifax, NS.
